Goose Hunting and Trout Fishing At It's Finest

We have had an incredible year of fishing! I don't remember fishing ever being as good here in the 15 years I've been guiding here as it has been this year! The river has dropped down to it's winter flows of 500 c.f.s. and has become crystal clear. We are getting great midge hatches right now. The water is cold and the fish have become more localized. Nymphing is the way to go right now. You can have great success right now with very high fish numbers! This is also a great time to strip streamers for those giant browns that inhabit these waters. An angler can expect to have a 40-50 fish day easy. The browns have starting spawning as well and there are lots of giants making there way up river. This river holds numerous browns from 10-20 pounds. In my opinion the winter months are the most productive times of the year to fish. It can be chilly but dress warm and I promise it will be worth it! With the season change also brings us our waterfowl. We have started our duck and goose season and it looks to be a great year. We have limited out on greenheads and canada geese so far on every hunt. We also are seeing several snow geese right now which is unusual but also a great sign of what's to come. Our waterfowl hunts are located in Wheatland Wyoming which is only an hour north of the Colorado border. If any of you like to shoot ducks and geese this is the place for you. We have clients that chase waterfowl from Canada to Texas and they have all said there is no need to go anywhere but with us in Wyoming. We killed 502 Canada Geese last season and look for even a better year this year. Only one hunt last year we did not shoot a limit of birds! Our schedule is filling fast but we do still have room in the calendar for some great opportunities on a duck or goose hunt of a lifetime!
