With Spring Coming....Fishing is HEATING UP!!

Wow, who would believe that Spring is already around the corner? We have had the chance to get out a few times over the winter and float, when there wasn't an ice dam at Lusby, and have had some very productive days. Here the last couple of weeks the temperatures have been eliminating some of the ice and warming up the river just enough. The fishing has been great.

From the Reef to Lusby: This weekend the recipe was as follows: Rock worm (size 8-16), Midges (size 18-20; any color), Leech (size 10), with about 9 ft. to your #1 weight. That rig is what it's all about, and a dead drift of course.

The water temps are still pretty cold below Lusby, but there is some fishing to be done. Below Lusby, fishing seems to be about the same with the addition of the good ol' San Juan worm.

Slow crawling small streamers is a good way to catch some big fish this time of year as well.

Well, with Spring brings change and change is good... right? I hope so. I will not be seeing some of your smiling faces as often this year. I have taken a new job with Depuy Spine, which is a Johnson & Johnson company. I will be covering medical sales for Neuro Surgeons in Casper and surrounding areas. I actually get to sit in on surgery's which is way cool. It is a wonderful opportunity and I have enjoyed my new job so, so, so, much so far and am setting my goal to be a "lifer" here. Try not to miss me too much, hahahah! I will still get to get out on the weekends, so hope to see you all very soon.

Jason is doing well and he had a good season with his bird hunting down in Wheatland. He has already started his spring trips to Florida. A couple of weeks ago he was down there and caught several snook, and 2 TARPON (15-30lbs) FROM A SEA KAYAK. Pretty cool huh? He will be going back down in April to catch some of the big boys.

All-in-all the Cowboy Drifter Family wintered very well; our wives haven't left us, our dogs are still alive, haven't slept on the couch for any great periods of time, the river still has water in it... for now that is, the inlaws still like me, and most of all, God is continually blessing our families each and every day.

There are two guarantees in life
(1)-everyone in life will let you down at some point,
(2)-Jesus WON'T
Have a wonderful day,
Mark Hamrick
