We have teamed up with Cabela's and the boys came to see what all the hype was about. Well, they got to see it alright. I got to witness one of the most amazing days I have ever seen on this river this week. There where fish everywhere and hungry ones too. I am not exagerating when I say there where over a hundred fish caught per boat. I wouldn't have believed it either if I wasn't there to see it. Anyway, it's hard to tell what the hot flies were because it seemed like anything in the water was getting eaten and it wasn't like the fisherman could have caught more than they already did. We stuck with the ol' reliable rock worms and leeches. We did increase the rockworm size to a 6 and still fished the leech in a size 6 as well. Leech colors were c

rawdad orange, brown, and black with some fish caught on the natural as well. Plenty of midges have been hatching as well as a few BWO's. Midge cluster dry patterns have also been working on top to sipping fish when the wind hasn't been blowing. If after a real giant throw cream/white or olive streamers with a real slow but irradic strip. Fish inside seems with light weight and you should really get into them. Try to keep from digging your oars and fins in the middle of the runs because with the water being as clear as it is fish are getting spooky and blowing out easy. Fish are spawning right now and will be for the next month and a half so enjoy the sights of nature taking it's course but PLEASE don't cast to the spawners.

I was fortunate enough to spend 2 days on the river with my friend Rob Ganger and his 2 daughters Payton (7yrs) and Maddie (10yrs). These two youngens casted by their self, mended their line by their self, set the hook by their self, and faught and landed their fish by themselves. They did need help holding the fish because they were so big, but you get the picture. Anyway, Maddie caught the slam here last year and again caught the slam 2 days ago. This was Payton's first trip and look how she did. Both caught several fish each day and did a wonderful job. I guess that is what sets Cowboy Drifters apart from the rest. Anyone can catch fish and have fun on the river no matter what sex or age, and Cowboy Drifter guides love to make it happen. GOOD JOB! Maddie and Payton. We'll look forward to seeing you 2 again next year.
