Thank God for High Water!!!!!!!!

Well, as many of you know trout don’t like 100 degree plus temperatures. But, thanks to high water for most of the summer our fishery is still producing lots of fish. In the past we would have to be especially careful this time of year with over stressing the fish. I’m not saying will still don’t do that now but the high water has kept out water temps lower than in the past yielding to fish that still like to eat. The fishing is still good and we seem to be catching bigger fish.

The nymphing rigs are still a leach pattern of some sort. We have been using a natural colored pine squirrel leach, size 10, and the good ol’ San Juan. The caddis are starting to become more abundant so you can’t go wrong with a cream Rocky Mountain Caddis, size 14or 16, and a hare’s ear, size 14 as a dropper off a leach or San Juan.

Now, the fishing that has been real successful has been stripping streamers off the banks. When it gets hot the fish have a tendency to move to the banks for a little shade and relaxation. They are some big fish too. We have been using several different streamer patterns. The bait fish are getting bigger so your natural colors, gray, are good along with black, and brown & yellow combos work fairly well.

Just a reminder to everyone wanting to get in a fall fishing trip before old man winter sets in, we are starting to book up lots and lots of days starting in late August through October. So, give us a call so we can get you set up for the amazing fall streamer and dry fly season. Jason talked to the Bureau of Reclamation and they are going to start dropping the water at the end of August so the fishing will be on fire in early September.

Well thats all from me... Catch on the river or the golf course..Yeah!!!!!
