DRY FLIES!!!!!!

Well I know it’s been a while and I know I always have an excuse, but I think my excuse this time is a pretty good one. I am a “Newly Wed”. I know, way cool huh. I think so any way. I got married to a local girl who is now Mrs. Shelby Hamrick. Sounds good doesn’t it, and she fishes too as you can see (thats her to the left). To go with that Jason has been down in the Florida Keys preparing for his upcoming wedding as well. He will be getting hitched on July 15th down in the Keys. We all wish him luck. Ok, so enough about us.

The fishing is still good. It isn’t spring anymore, but we are still catching lots of nice fish. The PMD’s and Yellow Sally’s are here and in full force. We are also fishing the incredible edible leach. The basic rig right now for nymphing is some sort of a PMD pattern, Mercer’s poxy back size 14-16, pheasant tails 14-18, amber stone’s 14-16, leaches size 10, swimming caddis size 16, and the ol’ San Juan too. We are also picking up lots of fish on streamers, pretty much tan and black, and DRY FLIES. Yeah you read it right, DRY FLIES. With the PMD’s and Sally’s coming off the fish in the Bessemer Bend area are coming up to the top quite regularly. There isn’t a lot of dry fly activity above Government Bridge but further down river we have caught some big fish on top.

The moss is getting worse and the river is still high as ever but as far as we know the fish are still eating and if you can stand a little heat in the afternoon there is still some good fishing to be done. So, don’t give way to a little moss and good ol’ sunshine and get out there and enjoy, and if you don’t want to do the work yourselves we have some fish bums that would be more than happy to get you on some fish of a lifetime. Well that will be it from me I have to hit the tying bench and crank out some flies for my trip tomorrow.

See ya on the water…………….
