Funny Things Happen on the River!!! And other places...

Wow! I had an unreal day on the river the other day with some southerners that really had never even seen a fly rod before. Brian and his son Adam were along with our good buddy, Cooper on a wonderful sunny day on the “Reef”. Adam was the fish slayer of the day. He had never even had a fly rod in his hand so I guess you could call it beginners luck. He is 12 years old and boated close to 35 fish, HIMSELF. His dad Brian, was right there with him putting the boat to over 60 fish in the net. Here are a couple of shots of Adam, one of the fish wasn’t very photogenic as you can see. So as you can tell you don’t have to be an expert to catch fish here on the North Platte, you just have to sit back, relax, and enjoy the day and the fish will come.
Here are a couple of fish that were caught on DRIES Monday, May 22. The one is a cutty that would weigh around 4 pounds, (Chad Plummer caught him) and the other is a nice BROWN (I got that one). Yep, a brown on a dry fly on the North Platte in Casper. I know most people say you can’t fish DRIES here, but I disagree. It would be safe to say that from here until who knows when that a couple of fish a day can be caught on dries. So, those of you that want to catch huge fish on dries, I know where to hunt them up. I’m not saying we will catch a lot of fish on top, but you will catch some big boys.

Also, a wonderful peacock bass caught on fly by our great friend Doctor Suell. Congrats on an awesome fish and keep your destinational fishing pictures coming for our Cowboy Drifter community to enjoy.
